All the patriots saying they’ll never go to Hawksmoor again. Because Borough market is full of neo-nazis spanking stacks of cash on hipster meals and pricy flat whites.

Venn for reference

Absolutely. Personally, I never really get to watch the race live now days, life's too noisy and, anyway, I don't really want to blow my afternoon on watching TV. So I have 24 Sundays a year of trying to avoid spoilers, which is harder year on year

Ours wasn't when we got her two years ago. Then she was. Then she was allowed upstairs and now she just sleeps on our beds.

Which is generally an issue

Promoting Tsunoda is a lose/lose for Horner. He looks incompetent if Yuki succeeds of fails
Promoting Liam looks like a win if he's good. If he isn't the only damage is to Lawson's career

David: Attenborough, Beckham, pillars of society

Dave: Lee Travis, Lister

I've never worked out why Mr Richards swaps out one of the finest, most regal names a man can have, for the moniker of an XR3i owner from Essex.

(I'm from deepest Essex and love a fast Ford. David though, please)

You know what you are

I guess the argument is that you can sell a young persons car to an old person. The target for the X Type was the 27 year old. They nailed the 50+ market with that
December 2, 2024 at 9:58 AM
That's a really, really narrow base. Urban, creative, young and well healed; you can find people with 3/4 but to have all of those is pretty rare. Add to that an appetite for a car that needs off road parking, or at least access to charging and I'm not sure...

The big question though, is who is the target market? It's not a criticism, Jaguar has to do something and it should be a forward looking brand, but who are they aiming cars at?

Personally, I feel the female market is massively untapped at this end of the market

Colton is the fun pick and the future, but they need seasoned experience to get them maximising their performance, and someone who won't bring another agenda in.

They should be getting Valtteri onboard immediately, ideally before Christmas

It does open your eyes though to the silliness of new cars options. I traded a lovely 6 year old CLS Shooting Brake in against a brand new XC90. The CLS value covered the stereo, sunroof, wheel interior upgrades.

You'll find that they'll tell you, in a non-sniffy way, that the only thing they can do with it is punt it through the trade as they don't have a way of retailing it. Premium dealers will likely complement the car. Vauxhall dealers will be more sniffy.

I had similar with an old Metro

Always a risk though. Customer comes in to buy a DB12 and sees this and realises that, actually, that's the sort of car they want, not the DB12.

Nice looking thing. Obviously no XM, looks wise, but nice enough ;)
November 27, 2024 at 8:25 PM
In the other place you seem to be tripping over Tesla Model 3 owners who are desperate to tell you how fast their car is. So it helps there.

I only know the 0-60 of my current cars as one of them is a Chimaera, which famously does 0-60 in 4.2 seconds according to TVR. Which is absolute bollocks

"just one driver made it unequivocally clear to me that he was not interested in being media-briefed at all. That one driver was Lance Stroll."

The attitude of someone who'll always be "I'm great" but never attain greatness

That's ball park new Nissan Qashqai money.

Even with some significant horse trading skills, good deals and great market conditions, I'm still about 50p a mile in depreciation alone on the XC90s I've had. Actually, a touch more than that. 50p a mile works out, in fuel terms, at about 12mpg. So the Bentley is going to be cheaper
November 22, 2024 at 1:37 PM
Interested to see the comparison. Guessing it's similar to a regular boring new car
November 22, 2024 at 1:16 PM
Honestly, not really!
November 21, 2024 at 11:03 AM
I don't think it is. Jaguars, at their best, have been forward looking. The E Type in the early 60s was incredibly futuristic.

Never look back, always forward, always fresh
November 21, 2024 at 10:19 AM
The only thing I really disliked about my XJR was its Brexity image. The campaign has got people talking about Jaguar and seems to have bought the brand back into the public eye, they just need a good car. Lots of us out there wanting to see Jag do well

BA get, deservedly, slammed in the response. Growing up BA was the airline. The adverts with the Flower Duet played over a Concorde soaring through the sky, it was the only airline my parents would fly with. The best pilots, the best service and the best planes.

Not anymore.

Out-qualified his team, Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericsson mate by a second if I remember correctly. I think he could have been a real force within F1 had his opportunities come from there instead of sportscars.
