Professor at University of Glasgow. Interested in proteins, membranes, membrane proteins and post translational modifications, mostly in the context of cardiac myocytes. Also hillwalking and music.
Thanks Dale! I’ll be working on the Addgene submission this weekend. We will share these reagents far and wide I hope.

Massive thanks to the amazing people in my lab who contributed to this study, to collaborators who generously shared reagents, and to @thebhf.bsky.social for funding.

And using a nanobody that binds the L-type calcium channel we depalmitoylate the pore forming subunit, shifting its voltage dependence and suppressing #arrhythmias in stem cell derived myocytes.

Using tricks developed by others to control the timing of nanobody binding, we built in a way to control when a protein is #palmitoylated or #depalmitoylated. We can induce target protein #depalmitoylation within an hour

We provide recordings of all lectures at the end of each block. Based on my colleagues experience this week 25 out of my class of 80+ will show up this morning. I massively value the opportunity to deliver teaching in person… but it is not particularly highly valued by the student body.
