Ok, let's start this screenplay...

*rolls dice, checks table*
Ok, a tennis movie... might be kinda boring, but we'll see...

*rolls dice, checks table*
ooo, but with a steamy, scandalous love triangle!

*rolls dice, checks table*
and a soundtrack by Reznor and Ross?

... this should be interesting

I'm excited to be launching a tool today that I've been tinkering on for a while now. My daughter is learning to read, and I thought a tool to build word searches for her would be a fun build. It was a blast.

Check it out at beta.worksheet.tools/wordsearch/v1!

This feature that I've always wanted, and still want too, out of browser web tools is "why is this element this size?"

Is it intrinsically sized? If so, what content is affecting it? Is it directly sized? Which selectors/properties? Is the context sizing it? Tell me more!

I haven’t looked at any LinkedIn Learning course for a while, but I see now they can launch a corresponding GitHub codespace now. That’s actually a really nice QoL improvement.

Just noticed on chromestatus that the Observable API is coming to v135. chromestatus.com/feature/5154...

I liked using RxJS in the past, but always felt like I needed to think inside out and backwards when using subscriptions.

It will be neat to see how this fits into the platform.

For my first foray into sous vide, I took the most freezer burnt piece of meat from the bottom of my freezer. It came out better than I could have ever imagined. #sousvide

I want to remind everyone that your local library is both physical AND digital.

You hate streaming everything because the price is ridiculous? Library.

You hate ads because they're every 3 mins or less? Library.

You want to reduce your digital footprint? Library.

You want sourced info? Library.

So it turns out a bunch of rem values in the stylesheet is off because Figma was calculating them off of 16px rather than the base of 14px we use.

Thankfully that got caught early, but now I've got a bunch of weird values like 1.7143rem.

Gonna make lemonade and try using round().

Is anyone familiar with how Chrome "prints" a PDF?

Is it simply rendering the page at a given paper width with the print styles, and then chopping the resulting height into X pages?

Or is it converting the HTML into PostScript and doing some magic with page breaks?

Coming up on four years since CSS-Tricks published my article on the CSS Paint API.

I'm disappointed that CSS Houdini never took off as I thought it might in 2020, but glad that the Properties and Values API and Typed OM are still slowly working their way in.

Ask a hundred front-end developers, and most, if not all, of them will have used the box-shadow property in their careers. Shadows are enduringly popular, and

The other day, a friend asked for help debugging some CSS in a side project he was helping out with. A complicated piece of UI was busted.

Turns out, a component he was using had been updated, and now had a few internal divs for utility flex styling that blew up his own layout.

Finally getting around to really doing something meaningful with AWS. I’m at the point where successfully logging in is a major achievement.

I decided to build a personal project I've been tinkering with in Angular. It's been a while since I used it last (maybe version 5?), and it's been a blast to work on. Signals are very cool.

Gave style queries a try with a component I’m updating. I needed to toggle some styles in its child, and rather than add a selector in the parent, thought it would be fun to key off of a flag set on the container.

Here’s an example: codepen.io/steve_fulghu...
