Tariff costs are yet to kick in, economies take time to deflate, cuts in public spending aren't immediately apparent everywhere. Take it from a Brit who's lived it. Many approved of "austerity" and "Brexit" (cuts to govt spending & ending free trade with Europe). Not so much now the pain's kicked in
