This US administration is just completely fucked. There is just no other way to describe it.

About time? You might want to educate yourself on how much Canada has given. By GDP we are one of the top supporters. We are over $8B now. www.kielinstitut.de/topics/war-a...

Leverage for the CUSMA renewal. The 🍊💩 lost his shit on a commercial. To be clear, not saying don’t do a deal, saying play it less in the face. Maybe a joint venture to make the Ukraine jets, drag out to 35 review, buy Gripens once Dems recontrol Congress to neuter the madman.
November 19, 2025 at 11:17 PM
I think Canada would be smart to work quietly behind the scenes to put things in place for mutual cooperation, but not sign an ‘in the face’ deal on jets and cancel 35s yet, slow roll it a bit. We are fighting an economic attack on steel, alum, wood, autos etc. need to get to midterms. And have

I’m all for a deal with the Swedes and a mixed fleet. Gripens are way less expensive to operate per hour. Take off and land on literally ice roads. But, we likely need to rag the puck (slow roll) to see what CUSMA negotiations look like, need leverage. And 26 mid terms - to mitigate Trump ire.

A Gripen is $4700-$8000 per hour. So if you take 16-24 F35 and the rest Gripens, over time it more than makes up for needing some duplication.
November 18, 2025 at 10:49 PM
And meanwhile we have typical “experts” that are already against Canada buying and building Gripens to supplement a smaller order of F35s. Oh dear, we can’t have 2 airframes. They say we need two training schools, two parts processes, 2 of everything. Yes, BUT, a F35 costs $33-40,000 per flight hour

Nice!

Our government needs to stop customizing. Buy out of the box from manufacturers that are already interoperable. We waste so much money on custom requests.
November 14, 2025 at 1:40 PM
I hope we make the right decision. There will be a lot of second guessing about our ability to have 2 types of jets, both at least the minimum 16 35’s we are committed to, plus Gripens. People saying it’s too hard to run multiple types for a country of our size. I say - look at Ukraine.
