I agree, but also wanna say by the time HG/SS came out we saw the series evolve so much and were so invested in the world/lore that they COULDN'T have replicated that feeling. Not to mention a lot of us played/replayed GSC a million times. The element of surprise was totally gone.

This is awesome!! If you didn't know, this is like a hack n slash version of old style Resident Evil, set in feudal Japan. Voice acting was poopy butthole even back in 2002, but the gameplay was tops.
