Our first EP turned 4 yesterday and I have some things to say about it. If you’ve known us a while thanks for rockin w us, and if we just met on this app, thanks for rockin w us 💚❤️
My two friends, Sally and Emily, sitting in a bed. Sally is looking off at the ceiling, Emily is smoking a cigarette using an empty glass as an ashtray. My face superimposed over a Logic Pro X file The 4 year anniversary of “Smile Alley” was yesterday and I missed it lol. It’s weird to think this project is 4 years old since this band fully came to life in the middle of 2022, but the the photo that became the cover — drunkenly taken of my homies Sally and Emily while we shared a cigarette indoors — was taken March 2020, 1 week before lockdown. Weeks prior I was working out some kinks for what became “I Heart U Carol” and showing friends an unrecognizable demo for what would become “Ok Doomer.” The second photo was on this account when I treated it as a burner during lockdown, my face over the file for what became “Chives.” These were the first songs I ever had the courage to write lyrics to and I’m still proud of them. The DNA that makes up these songs is still fundamental to the Fruit Dawg ethos. There’s more I can say about this project but I’d like to save that until next year when we do something special to celebrate 5 years. Until then I’ll say this. Releasing this EP changed my life. If you’ve been here since 2020, or here for a week, thank you for the support, I’m so grateful to know you. See you in 2025 💚❤️ Your dawg, Christian
