Furthermore, using the replica trick near ferromagnetic and spin-glass phase boundaries, we demonstrate that high-order interactions can enhance memory capacity over the classical Hopfield networks — a result that we verify empirically

Using a mean-field description we show that these “curved neural networks” implement a self-regulating annealing process that accelerate memory retrieval, leading to explosive order-disorder phase transitions with multi-stability and hysteresis effects

Greatly enjoying this book by @erikhoel.blogsky.venki.dev which presents a lucid account of the history of the science of consciousness!

“The entropic heart: Tracking the psychedelic state via heart rate dynamics”

What if we try to track the psychedelic state not from the brain, but from the heart?

We measured the (often small) movements in chest position of audiences and performers. A cool finding is that we saw higher synchrony in high frequencies for strict renditions, while seeing higher synch in low frequencies in improvised ones.

Differences between the renditions were small, but people did report feeling differences during the pieces with improvisatory elements
