I think I previously recommended Dirty Laundry by Disha Bose, which is set in Ireland but has an Indian character and cool flashbacks to India.

I assume she's already read The God of Small Things

I would also recommend Erotic Stories for Punjabi Women if she hasn't read that yet? Author is Balli Kaur Jaswul, and she has a newer book that I haven't read yet.

Has she read any of Sujata Massey's books? They're mystery novels based on a real Indian woman who was the first woman to become a lawyer in India. Lots of history, culture, family dynamics. First book is called The Widows of Malabar Hill.

Maybe you don't actually want to work in that department!
November 30, 2025 at 9:57 PM
Do you teach tomorrow?
November 30, 2025 at 9:54 PM
They didn't have to set it up so they would need to check their email over break. They CHOSE to set it up that way.
November 30, 2025 at 9:54 PM
Also, they could have just enabled submission deadlines and timed release of the questions in Blackboard, which is what I would have done.
November 30, 2025 at 9:52 PM
That's both super unprofessional and impractical - this is the week you're supposed to do your comps, and they haven't unlocked a question in three days?!?
