Let’s Go Mets!! ⚾️🍎💙🧡
Ohtani didn’t defer 97% of his salary so the Dodgers could afford to go out and sign Tommy Edman.

Guess you’ve forgotten the a Dodgers.

Mets might have a bright future ahead of them?

Where else would their future be? Behind them?

Kinda redundant

If Soto is serious about going to a winning team then it’ll be the Dodgers - hands down. Ohtani signed a crazy contract to allow flexibility to sign FAs like Soto.

Oh, BTW, they’ve won 2 WS in the last 5 years.

I don’t think LA even needs to be the highest bidder. He’d be part of an historic team

Wait! Didn’t the Mets make a very fair offer in 2023 of 7 yrs/$158M? Didn’t Pete turn that down, hire the most aggressive agent in the history of sports and then refuse to negotiate?

How is this on the Mets?

This is Pete’s choice and now he’s a year-and-half older. Dumb move on his part.
November 27, 2024 at 2:28 AM
Actually that may be a smart move. Why start with your top offer knowing Boras is going to say “not enough”. At the same time Boras can’t dismiss the Mets because he needs them in as serious bidders.

Make Boras come back with a counteroffer then the can begin bargaining
November 26, 2024 at 9:47 PM
He says that’s his initial offer. Since the end of the WS he has been saying that Soto will sign for $701MM because Boras wants a bigger contract than Ohtani.

Steinbrenner has been dead for 14 years and had not been involved with team decisions since 2005 or earlier.

Time to move on.

I also think that MLB would have to compensate the owners of the As and Rays.
November 26, 2024 at 7:09 PM
What happens to the current players with As and Rays including all their minor leaguers?

If Soto is serious about going to a winning then it’ll be the Dodgers - hands down. Ohtani signed crazy contract to allow flexibility to sign FAs like Soto.

Oh, BTW, they’ve won 2 WS in the last 4 years.

What else could Soto want? I don’t think LA even needs to be the highest bidder.

So many of us gladly hand over hundreds or thousands of dollars to watch and support our favorite team but then bitch to high heavens over the cost of a fast food meal or the price of gas.

It’s all about priorities - or lack there of.
November 26, 2024 at 6:57 PM
Of course nobody needs that kind of $~especially for playing a game. But don’t blame the players, agents or owners. Our society has put that value on sports and is willing to pay more and more for tickets, cable/streaming, merch and more.

The only way things change is if people stop watching.
November 26, 2024 at 6:54 PM
Not sure exactly when that went into effect but it has Steve Cohen written all over it.
November 26, 2024 at 12:13 AM
If they sign 2 they might as well sign 3 or 4. Not my $ but losing those picks really hurts.
November 25, 2024 at 11:52 PM
Huge!
November 24, 2024 at 11:43 PM
They’re already getting penalized 10 spots in the draft because of the payroll so they would pretty much be sitting out for the whole draft.

So Much for building from within.
November 24, 2024 at 7:38 PM
Let’s hope they have a lit more fun wearing the same uniform in 2025.
November 24, 2024 at 2:36 PM
True but also lose picks if they sign Soto, Burnes, Bregman, Fried, Adames, Santander, Walker or Hernandez. Even worse, if a team signs multiple QO players the draft loss increases losing their 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th round picks plus lose $1M in international signing bonus $.

Cohen tax. Sucks

Sorry but going to unfollow. I didn’t come here to deal with more clickbait.

Or Kevin Bass.
