PhD candidate at CWRU. Researching relationship between modernist literature and teleological narratives of history/progressivism. May post on things that interest me in my research. Reposts or replies to comments do not imply endorsement.
When UnHerd first appeared I was interested as it did seem to have a relatively wide-ranging array of perspectives and commentators like John Gray who I find interesting. It now seems to be just a somewhat higher brow GB News.

Have you read Jason Blakely's We Built Reality? If not, it may be of interest.

Do you know him?

Interesting. Am I correct in saying that the rise of American creationism, particularly around the Scopes trial, was largely motivated by a rejection of Social Darwinism and its association with laissez-faire economics?

Thank you. I'll check out your book.

Question: I often hear Christian apologists claiming that no mainstream Christians at the time of Darwin's publication of the Orign of Species seriously believed in Young Earth Creationism, whilst atheists claim they did. Who is right?

Would you include the postlibs (Patric Deneen etc.) under the Christian nationalist banner?

Would you support the dem ticket in tis eventuality?

I think John N Gray's interest in Freud can be read along those lines. I always found Lacan to be somewhat woo though.

Great article.

The sincere American postlibs should have followed Brits like John Milbank and Adrian Pabst in creating a Blue Labour style movement on the left.

This whole thread seems largely accurate (though I struggle to think of the "reasonable" things Trump has done). However, this has all been obvious for a very long time and you still put out puff pieces for Trump. The American wing of postliberalism is totally tainted by its association with MAGA.

This film really was surprisingly good.

Is the Exorcist worth reading if you've seen the film? Does it differ much?

My 10 year old niece is. She's going through a Jurassic Park phase. They still make a ton of money, so it can't just be her who wants to watch it.

I thought that sequence was cool. It was all a bit too CGI but it was fun. The second Hobbit film was actually quite good.

I do in fact live in Ohio. Originally from England...

What do you think of postliberal critiques of capitalism, such as that presented by sohrab Ahmari?

The Intuitionist is still my favorite of your books.

Never seen I Saw the Devil. Heard it was a bit of an inferior Oldboy. Would you say it was better than the Park Chan Wook's vengeance trilogy?

I think they usually mean the identitarian left. In terms of the direction of institutions, especially of education, that faction of the left has indeed been the main driving force over the last ten years.

Yes, the alliance between parts of the progressive left and Islamism is baffling given what the latter actually believe.

Only just started, but Orbital by Samantha Harvey (this year's Man Booker winner) seems excellent. Set on the international space station.

Yep, they like their vice signaling.
