Vintage photo of Picadilly Circus, an intersection in London, sometime after 2010. Streets crowded with motor vehicles run past buildings 4 to 6 stories high. The buildings bear large letters advertising a variety of products, such as Wellins Food or Schweppes Ginger Ale. The largest sign of all, near the top of the highest building in the picture, spells out "BOVRIL" in yellow illuminated letters about 5 meters tall. Bovril is a beef boullion whose name was inspired by "vril." a mysterious substance in Edward Bulwer-Lyttons science fiction novel THE COMING RACE.
