I've seen some of those crazy googledocs where legit there are 40-50+ cells each with their own API pull.

The cliff thing is strange but the article casually mentioning that originally the dead were 'smoked' for preservation then butchered by family so they could be crammed into tiny coffins is like 1000x more bizarre

As a filthy casual I hate the games that get cutesy with item collection and saves.
I remember OG Nier had hell-mode Achievements I never finished because one of the weapons wouldn't show up in NG+, and the other required save deletion.
