A single call to function graph2ppt or graph2doc from the {export} package will produce fully editable graphs in PowerPoint and Word, respectively. Easy! Works with base, ggplot...

There are some easy to use online apps to make maps, eg. magrit.cnrs.fr/app/. Hope that helps

Well, small samples are very problematic (not robust). But yeah, with large N one can get significant p-values for very small real differences
