This is the 7th incarnation of my glass furnace. When we first opened, I built the bench first, but the furnace came next, and was far more intimidating. Each rebuild has been better. I use an invested crucible, a forced air burner, and a Giberson burner tip. This too was built largely from scrap.

As I go along, Bluesky will have a learning curve. There doesn’t seem to be a way to delete posts I’ve made, so you may find some redundant edits. I’ll try and clean these up in the future. Patience.

I’ve had in mind for awhile the idea of creating a list of equipment in my glass blowing studio, along with a history of each item. It seems to make sense to begin with my bench. When we began, there were some essential necessities to begin producing glass. I decided to build my bench out of wood.

As this is my first attempt at using Bluesky, it feels awkward, especially with the 300 character limit. I tend to write posts which are longer personal histories, so I’m not sure how well this is going to work for me. But definitely worth the try. Any feedback would be helpful.

The New York Times seems to have abruptly changed their comment function on their articles. I was curious about this so I went to look for their ombudsman or public editor to ask about it. They no longer have one. They eliminated the position in 2017. As Facebook has also seemed to change their
