So the effect itself is nothing startling, but if we're getting the temps to create them in places that never have had such heat previously, that's climate breakdown

Apparently there was one in coastal Cumbria recently, which is definitely 🤯

We're headed for almonds & apricots here again

Radiant heating of the land causes a column of warm air which rises, taking light surface material with it, according to my personal Environmental Scientist

They're called hay devils. They didn't happen in my cooler northern latitudes, so I've never seen one. But my husband remembers them fondly from childhood in Sussex in the 70s/80s

I love this.

We need more of this sort of management in the NHS

The knock on to the NHS will be devastating

We already struggle to discharge medically fit patients due to care shortages, making those shortages worse will block more beds

Add to that the number who'll turn up at ED because they're not safe at home when care falls through & we're f*cked - frankly

We needed an XRMA attached to an SEM to find that silver lining - well done 👍🏻

We are, and we have the pharma base to do it

450 million people in the EU, plus UK & satellite nations who'd buy it

John Nance, an aviation safety safety expert who has spent a lot of time working to bring that safety culture into health care, tells the story of the 1977 Tenerife disaster like no other. So many lessons for medicine that are still yet to permeate

The public think they're a quick fix.

Got a cough? Must be a chest infection ➡️ abx

Got a GI upset? Needs abx

Got a simple UTI, no fever, flank pain or other 🚩? Too inconvenient to do self-care ➡️ abx

Kid has a fever, must be bacterial...

Pushing back is hard, but necessary for abx stewardship
