That "strange" is what impressed me a lot with the original book. When I read Dune decades ago I was impressed with the very non-human feel to it and I would tell people if they wanted to try some sci-fi that was about as far from our normal human experience that one can get then Dune was the book.

There would probably be less of that if the supreme Court would provide laxatives in their rulings as opposed to the enemas they seem to keep providing for Democracy......
