Right? Isn’t it? Aren’t they? To me these are expressions of unexamined anglo-centrism, both being particular to and widely used in American and British English. I find them intellectually abusive because of their coercive logic.

- Language matters. It is painful to see how scholars have to present their ideas in a foreign language. Even though I take this into account given that I come from the same place, it is often difficult to see through the thicket of grammatical mistakes and imprecise terminology...

- format your text for readibility: use bullet points, selectively highlight important things in bold

- Read about data management in the humanities BEFORE you fill out a questionnaire about how you will manage your data.

- Keep in mind: the reviewer is asked to make a judgement on both the proposal itself and on the reserachers track record and achievements to date

- do mention parental leave in your CV, I am human too

- If you intend to create a database state which software you intend to use and why

- how did you get here: make explicit how the project is distinct from your previous research. I was less convinved by projects that seemed to be doing the same thing as the phd which already dated back 10 years.
