'The resurrection of Christ is the glorious vindication of the love of God incarnate, a demonstration of the fact that the last word is not destruction and death. It demonstrates that the love of God will conquer all those powers which destroy mankind.'

Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh (1914-2003)

Part of a cartoon by Ella Baron in The Guardian (27.09.25). Tells you pretty much all you need to know about Farage.

‘People in hotels, hostels and detention centres are not there as a lifestyle choice - which is why it is not only unjust but absurd to punish them for being there.’

One of my favourite parts of the Bible is the Parable of the Prodigal Son and his Brother. It’s in Luke’s gospel (15.11-32). There’s always a way back to God. The painting by Rembrandt depicts the return of the wayward son to his father. Once saw it in The Hermitage Myseum, St Petersburg. Stunning.

I loved this book. Moving, challenging, and profound in equal measure. Couldn't put it down.

If you would like to find out more about the story of the raising of Lazarus, as recorded in John's Gospel, this book by Fr James Martin is a great read

I couldn't agree more.

'As bishops we are compelled to state clearly and unequivocally that the death and destruction being inflicted on Gaza is a grave sin that violently assaults God-given human dignity and the very integrity of God's creation.'

Michael Ramsey, Archbishop of Canterbury throughout the 1960s, was once asked how to pray. ‘I just get down on my knees and hope for the best,’ he replied. In other words, there is not much that you have to do except make the time.
