Just found this file in my cloud storage and remembered that I once searched Trove for the Phantom's first appearance in Australia. As you do! (Yes, yes... I know it's not Frew...) #thephantom

There is something immensely satisfying about holding a physical draft.

Progress report for The Book. My earlier reviews are a bit rough and some lack plot summaries! So I've had to lug my storage boxes up into my study, in order to quickly locate any issues that need updated reviews. Here is one of the culprits.

I knew it was coming up in my epic reread, but it was still a gut punch.
Photo is of issue 1663 of The Phantom, as published by Frew Publications. The story included is Rumble on the Jungle, reprinted in memoriam of Jim Shepherd, who wrote the story and rejuvenated Frew for decades.

I first started writing reviews at No 1679 and I'm trying to catch up on the issues before then. So I recently re-read No 1619 and found this little gem in Jim Shepherd's editorial
Text reads: In the not too distant future, some lucky Frew publisher will be putting the finishing touches to the magic 2,000th issue! That's for the future! Right now, have to concentrate on the 2011-2012 scenario!

Received both of these yesterday 🤨 Odd but hurray! Postie left the cardboard envelopes on the 1930s art deco table I keep in my mudroom. Very apt.
