🎄 Are your holiday decorations ready? Euclid has a cosmic garland to add: NGC 646.

The large barred spiral galaxy appears close to a smaller galaxy to the left, but they’re actually about 45 million light-years apart 👉 https://www.esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/Images/2025/12/Euclid_s_galaxy_garland

This cosmic butterfly is IRAS 23077+6707, the largest planet-forming disc seen around a young star yet!

Hubble has revealed it to be an unusually chaotic specimen, with wisps of material flying far beyond the disc 👉 https://esahubble.org/images/opo2606/

You know, it could have also been called Cummyway, for how sticky gravity makes the fluid. (Literally the same Fluid simulation in Blender for Cum and Galaxies.)

It took us a long time to get to building contact imports for Bluesky because we wanted to do it in a privacy preserving way. Read more about how we did it in the blog post below!
v1.112 is live!

We’re launching Find Friends, a contact import feature that helps you find people you know on Bluesky.

Try it! In the mobile app, go to Settings → Find friends from contacts.

Read how we took a more secure approach to this than other platforms: bsky.social/about/blog/1...

v1.111 is live today!

We've upgraded our Age Assurance system to comply with upcoming laws in Australia and other regions, and to restore access to people over 18 in Mississippi.

Plus, we fixed some bugs and laid the groundwork for improved "who to follow" suggestions in the near future.

Webb breaks its own record by identifying the earliest supernova to date, a star that exploded when the Universe was only 730 million years old.

To astronomers' surprise, this early supernova looks exactly like modern supernovae based on data gathered so far 👉 www.esa.int/Science_Expl...

It's known as a 'butterfly crater' but we see a walnut, an insect, the Eye of Sauron, or perhaps a moth... what do you think?
