1/2 Tobacco companies sold people a lie that filters made smoking safer. But filters don’t protect smokers from cancer-causing chemicals, and cigarette butts are the world’s no.1 littered item.

Our NHS Tobacco Dependency Teams across the North East & North Cumbria have:
✅ Identified 95,845 patients who smoke
✅Referred 67,900 for in-hospital support
✅Helped 2,925 patients achieve smoke-free lives

124,000 young people have started smoking since the Tobacco & Vapes Bill. 73% of NE adults support raising the age of sale.
As it reaches Lords Committee, @DHSCgovuk

For 25 years, Stop Smoking Services have been changing lives. In the NE over 400,000 people have stopped - one of the best records in the country.

It’s been a huge chance to support people to stop smoking. Over the years 2.5 million have already tried to stop with Stoptober, but six million in the UK – including 233,000 in the NE – still smoke.
