There was no significant difference in the length of stay for those hospitalised with BQ.1 (median length of stay 5.2 days; 95% C.I.; 4.9-5.6 days), CH.1.1 (median length of stay 5.1 days; 95% C.I.; 4.6-5.6 days) or XBB.1.5 (median length of stay 5.2 days; 95% C.I.; 4.6-5.8 days)

Very excited to be in Copenhagen for #ECCMID23!

I’ll be speaking in Hall M tomorrow (Sunday 16th April), presenting our latest vaccine effectiveness estimates of bivalent boosters and against current variants of concern; BQ.1, CH.1.1 and XBB.1.5.

Come say hi! ☺️

Using a broad definition of hospitalisation, we also see similar protection conferred by the boosters against hospitalisation between BA.2 and BA.1. Note this definition dilutes VE as discussed in our hospitalisation report, and true estimates will be higher.

At 25+ weeks following the second dose, vaccine effectiveness was around 60% while at 2+ weeks following a booster vaccine effectiveness was 95% against mortality.

Really enjoyed presenting my data on the signalling pathways regulating neutrophil recruitment and activation in RSV infection last week at the UK-Russia Young Medics Association conference @SechenovUni. Thanks for inviting me!
