I've been hearing about data centres in orbit, but never really understood the practicality of it. For me, being able to build self-sustaining colonies on other planets strikes me as more important. Sounds like another effort to cram AI into everything whether they need it or not.

Yeah, that was always annoying for me as well. There's a big difference between 'can write a reply understandable by humans' and sentience and some people are pushing the idea that the crossover could happen any day now. It's always been silly.

I'm by no means a fan of Rebel News (they aren't news by any means), but having established media decide who is and is not "news" is not exactly a good precedent, either. This especially given what I've seen designated "news" organizations have done in the last few years in terms of news output.
