Amateur Author, hopefully soon to be widely published. Any pronouns are fine.
Had an epiphany. Let's see how much writing I can get done before midnight.

I know Avatar (James Cameron) has failed as a franchise because it contains several alien cat people with a tribal aesthetic and furries almost completely failed to embrace it.

Furries will embrace anything remotely anthropomorphic. There exists almost no Na'Vi fanart. How did this happen?

If publication really is a matter of luck, then I feel like I have to roll fifteen Nat 20s in a roll on four-sided dice.

It seriously sucks constantly being told nothing but 'no'.

I feel like if a story takes more than 3 months to be responded to, the least that the people responding to it can do is a personal rejection, and not just a "Thank for trying, better luck elsewhere" notice. Fuck's sake.

One of my dad's favorite Sci-Fi stories was Murray Leinster's "A Logic Named Joe". I always thought that the portrayal of Logics in that story was a bit too far-fetched when I read it in my sophomore year.

I owe Mr. Leinster an apology, clearly.

Can 2025 stop being a trainwreck for two seconds. Please.

Finished AdHoc's Dispatch. I'm glad we're seeing an upswing in optimistic capeshit.

At some point I need to figure out why I'm not getting stories accepted. What about my work is off-putting to publishers? #writing #writingcommunity

Starbucks feels like a money laundering operation. They make bad coffee and overpriced food, don't treat their workers well, and somehow make more money than god.

This may be utterly unhinged, but I feel like if you take over a third of a year to respond to a submission, you can do better than a rubber stamp boilerplate "it's not for us" rejection #writingcommunity

All this Bond discourse I'm seeing is making my writer's fingers itch. Pity I never really liked James Bond.

You have to love something to be able to effectively parody it, and I'm apathetic towards disliking of spy fiction.

HOLY SHIT I JUST FOUND OUT MY DESK CHAIR HAS AN ADJUSTABLE BACK????

AUGH I CAN WRITE WITHOUT BEING IN AGONY NOW!

Eight days into #Novelvember and I finally figured out the plot.

Oh this has not been a good year for me.

Actually finishing stuff. I've managed to finish all of one short story in the last three months.
What's something you'd like to improve on in your writing? #WritingPrompt

I am begging publishers, please include a "if you haven't heard by x date please query" clause in your guidelines. I'm going on two months of not hearing back from some markets and I don’t know if I can query. #writingcomnunity

People Always assume malice over mistake and it's fucking exhausting.

Demons and Hell are their own pantheon in the Divine setting I'm trying to write (still need a name). Not 100% sure where they are morally, but considering I wrote Jesus as an antagonist in two of the stories I've written for it, I imagine that it's a 'lesser of two evils' situation.
Tell me about your demons and demonic characters! 👹#WritingPrompt

Having to be professional is exhausting, but I keep telling myself it'll be worth it in the long run.

That said, if I had a nickel for every snarky post I wanted to write about my life or my reading habits, I could retire.

So no classical casters in my setting, but the gods and spirits empower human avatars with 'magic' abilities that match their domain.

One of my favorite concepts that emerged from this is that Bragi, Norse god of performance and poems, has the power to get free tickets to any show he wants.
Tell me about your witches, sorcerers, warlocks, wizards, and other magic users! #WritingPrompt

After I'm done with this temp job, I never want to work in an office again.

I feel like my brain is oozing out my ears every night.

I honestly wish that oldschool creepypasta authors would try to pro-publish their work. Closest I've seen is a novel titled "No-End House" by someone who wasn't the original author of that, and had nothing to do with the original work.
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

So was the Moksha submission platform named ironically? Every time I submit to a publication that uses it, I feel like I'm trapped in an unending cycle of checking if my work's been read every time I see the Grinder update a listing. #writingcommunity #writing

If someone is willing to collaborate with you creatively but will drop you at the first sign of you being emotionally inconvenient, you don't have a friend. You have a colleague, at best.

I feel like if a platform's function degrades to the point where users can't delete accounts, the best time to migrate off that platform was five years ago, the next-best time is tomorrow.
