Bleh bleh bleh. Especially since a lot of people — on either side — will consider this a good thing. I do not.

Maybe I’ll spend some time during our upcoming holiday code freezes to go back over www.anthropic.com/engineering/... and start experimenting again.

Like I’ve given up on Claude.md files as I haven’t seen it be either a positive or negative influence.

I’ve done tons of edits to CLAUDE.md files and never once have seen a difference. I’ve even tried whole sale copying other folks files that seemed decent and that they’ve sworn by.

I’d be interested to know what platform stuff you all have.

At this point I’ve largely stopped using it for normal code generation. I’ll still use it for experimentation and stuff I’m unfamiliar with to get started, but then usually throw that all away and reimplement once I understand what’s possible.

I have constant issues with what it writes: tons of basic corrections for clarity and maintainability, pulling in poor practices, insane naming of things, etc.

I’m also a backend developer.

Yes. It writes poor code and with a lot of guidance.

“Claude code has only been around ~8 months, and is now believably able to write 90%+ of a developer's code in certain cases.”

As a user of Claude Code I call BS. Or that “in certain cases” is doing a LOT of work there.

PS: I’m not saying it will be that way forever.
