Just checked out The Rainbow Parade by Emily Neilson from the Evans branch - banned in 2023 at that branch but now back on the shelves thanks to community demand. A win for the Freedom to Read!

No public comment is allowed, but they may still vote on the guidelines.

This is a list of books that have been banned since 2022. The pink highlighted titles have LGBTQ+ content.
An easy way to help fight, is to check the books out! If it is unavailable at a CC Library, ask for staff to put an “item hold” on the title so our book gets the circulation number.

I didn’t include this email in the original Substack article that I wrote. However this shows the level of inquiry. I have another Open Records Request with the Board of Regents that I will hopefully get back either today or tomorrow.

This image lists the 9 books that I mentioned during my comments that have been pulled from circulation, held in a back office since January. I am asking Columbia County Library to stop blocking patrons from accessing this information and place all 9 of these books back into circulation this week.

Every Commissioner present raised their hand in support of criminalizing librarians for doing their job. Districts 1, 4 and the Chair are for election in 2026z
