Legume scientist by day ☘️🫛, choir baritone by night 🎶. Immigrant to 🇫🇮. Science-based decision making.
This is worth shouting about. The words "plant-based burger" and the like (sausage, milk, yoghurt, bacon) help the consumer choose a direct counterpart to the meat or animal product. This choice is good for the environment and good for the planet.

Energy demand keeps rising.
Food demand keeps rising.
But our policies are stuck in 1970.

It’s time to remove the ideological blinders.

Because the world needs more power and more food —
Not more fear.

Peer reviewers are exhausted. It's common to spend *months* inviting reviewers, getting refusals, inviting more, maybe 12 or more, then 2 agree but 1 doesn't complete, so you go again. That's why your paper is in limbo. I'm very sorry, it's awful, but it's also an untenable academic labour issue.

Can the humble bean help save the world?

Happy #WorldPulsesDay! It's a good day to check out our video collaboration with BBC Ideas & @socsci.ox.ac.uk which highlights just how beans might help solve our interconnected climate and food systems challenges.

I learned about greenhouse gases in university in the 1970s, and even then it was old news, as this New Zealand newspaper cutting from 1912 shows. Yet, what do we do... continue to burn fossil fuels 🙄 and some governments want to increase this foolish activity. #climate #greenhousegases
