The point is that these centrist people are either part of the political power mechanic, or its target market. That they, even at the point of their 'road to damascus' conversion, are far more concerned with how they are perceived rather than outraged and agitating 'within' for change is telling

Thirdly whether public figures or not (self labelled) 'centrists' will react in exactly the same way to the next awful thing. There will be no introspection, and just as much outrage that the protests which occaisonally disrupt their shopping experience are as terrible and pointless as the last time

Secondly, usually the tone is self-centering (mostly wanting praise) and full of equivocations. I accept children are being starved and sometimes shot, but some are probably accidents and what about the realpolitik angle?! And what do you want me to do about it anyway? Firstly I think that for public/famous people (esp politicians) it often seems a calculated transition made when they feel it's 'safe' or relatively uncontroversial for them. It's that they are not making a decision based on morals, and seem incapable of being concilliatory towards those that have
