I wander and make stuff, sometimes; I'm trying to make stuff more often, despite the best efforts of my inner critic. Behold, many shiddy first drafts, and some iffy second drafts too.
How do I work this thing.
Dang I was hoping Grandmother's Second Best Sword was a folk metal/bardcore band I hadn't heard of.

Can I ask what spiral binder you use? I have been eyeing one for a while.

Are they woven from palm leaves? I don't have palms here... I'll have to use reeds or arrange a diplomatic trade with Mesopotamia.

These look much nicer and sturdier than my foam and plastic flipflops that fall apart after one summer 😭

Sacabambaspis is cute but I need a giant huggable Psammolepis alata

Well good luck! I hope you get to work with dinosaurs :)

You can do fossil prep without a degree by volunteering. Used to be that you could work your way into a paid position from there, although I suspect that may not be true anymore 😓 I did fossil prep and exhibition before the pandemic shut all the museums down.

Oh just that I wouldn't recommend anyone visit the US right now. The travel situation is bad and getting worse.
November 10, 2025 at 2:09 PM
There are a bunch in the US I would recommend except *waves arms* ya know... But it depends what you want to get out of it? If you want to hang out with fellow dinosaur nerds there are museum meetups and things like that.

Museum studies courses.... I have Opinions 😬😅 (on the ones in the US anyway, I don't know much about them elsewhere)

Yeah conferences are expensive >_<;;

To be un-flippant, though, you can still study paleontology. It's a field with a lot of "amateur paleontologists," some of whom go to the professional conferences, and contribute by finding fossils, describing fossils, do lab/prep work... (And that way you get to do just the fun bits)

(retry: forgot alt text) - but also, where is city enforcement ticketing/towing these wankers into oblivion until they stop doing it?

I sometimes think I should have studied design instead of paleontology, but here we are 😆

Oh ok, phew, I'm safely seen as just another clumsy-French-speaking ferner
November 9, 2025 at 4:40 PM
I always say veux-tu 😮Am I speaking Canadian French?? No one has said anything.

If this was a toy in the 80s when I was a wee child, I would have coveted it so bad.

I think that's the first time I see aposematism in (alleged) human-food purchased from an (alleged) human-food purveyor.
