Such a British problem to have. (Most of Europe needs to check which 2:45am it is.)

You could have a remote control plus an emergency open button on the motor assembly, or you could invest into a proper, wall-mounted button in addition to those. It does seem like something some people would have strong opinions about.

Because the location of the button is obviously important. The fact that there is a whole debate about the best location for the motor is new to me.

Arguments from etymology are always the last Hail Mary attempt at winning the debate: "I'm losing the argument badly, but arguably, we should redefine X to mean Y for historical reasons and if you were using that alternative definition then one of your points wouldn't make sense. I win."

I once ordered two identical monitors, which left the store's warehouse the same minute, then got split up somehow and were routed via hubs in two different cities, only to end up in the same delivery van again.

I think the loophole is more generally that courts have no way of compelling the executive branch to do anything. They can just refuse enforcement of orders against themselves, and jail any third party the court appoints to enforce them.

I'm imagining something like a 1 kW wall socket in the curb that you connect to using a cheap charging cable that looks more like a regular power cable. All very low-cost and low-tech so there's not much to break or to steal. There would still need to be fast chargers for rare occasions of course.

The only unsolved problem I see is street-side parking in cities for residents. It's not feasible to share one charger between multiple cars in the same night. I feel like we need a standard for durable, low-cost, low-power chargers that can be installed in most (all?) street-side parking spots.
