No. Trump's first FCC chair was Ajit Pai. The new one is Brendan Carr.

What are we going to do NOW?

The law has no meaning except that which the Republicans create.

It means that unless we take them seriously and come up with an actionable plan, a lot of people are going to seriously suffer and this country is going to look very different. None of this sitting around shaking hands, smoothly transitioning, playing nice. Fuck all that.

You already said that. And you are wrong. It was highly consequential. We lost Row V. Wade. The president was granted immunity from prosecution. Federal regulation was completely hamstrung. This kind of gaslighting does us no good. We need to rise to meet the moment.

They won't call it that. They'll tie their words in knots and come up with some long winded explanation. There is nothing to stop them from doing this. There is no accountability. Republicans hold *all* the cards. All of our rights are temporary and are at their whims.

Trump's Supreme Court has also made a number of rulings subverting or undermining established precedent, and has bypassed typical legal protocol in some cases to do so. There are no longer any rules. We will scream at them "you can't do that" all day. They don't give a shit.

Fears mongered in 2016 were realized. Trump's FCC eliminated net neutrality rules. In term 1 he picked technically qualified people for his cabinet that ended up mitigating it. This time he is picking loyalists with no regard for the rules
Carr authored a widely available chapter on his FCC plans

This is a lesson Trump has learned from, and all of his appointments reflect that.

what legal authority people do or do not have stopped mattering 8 years ago. I may have misunderstood the part about the licensing but Brendan Carr's chapter in project 2025 makes it clear they will stuff like this, it's hard to imagine any one really stopping them.

Good work if true. But these accounts lie all the time.

Ok we don't have to put "Breaking" before every little news item y'all it. It makes us look so frivolous
