On Twitter replying to a RT tied both OG and RT in the reply, not unlike a reply to a reply. The downside was if someone replied to the RT and said something dumb, it tied the RTer in as part of it, hence this old Leyawn banger! So it's not a perfect system and it definitely has its pros and cons
