Back for more on the local Woodchat today. As an inland Cheshire birder it makes a nice change to have a rarity (of sorts) just minutes from the house. And who doesn’t love a shrike? #ukbirding

Ace day out in Wales.
Spent a few hours watching vocal Goshawks grapple & display. Nearby 3 Adders were a joy.
Then to Flint for the Twite flock. Never seen them feeding high in birch before. Must be a spring thing?
Complemented with views across the Dee & hordes of waders.
Bliss. #ukbirding

A day in the office with the window open, listening to c2,000 pinkfeet. There’s been an amazing increase in recent years here in Cheshire. I’ve never seen a flock on the ground here before, but could get used to it. Fabulous birds to have around.

Spoke too soon. U-turn Indigo action. A mere 36 years since seeing the unaccepted Holkham bird. Is this one really any more credible?

We were too slow for the indigo, but at least there was a shrike form compensation.

Stopped to see if this sad road casualty was ringed, assuming it was dead. Happily not - seemed stunned with no sign of external injuries. Placed it in a nearby tree in the hope of recovery. Will call back later to check🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Red-billed Streamertail, Jamaica. A common bird here. Hummers are always great characters - big on looks and attitude.
