An important point. I'm still learning and there are a variety of experiences people have. The concept that biological sex and gender expression are not the same thing is difficult for many to understand, even in freer cultures, and even though history shows this is not new.

I would describe it as a long standing, intractable discomfort both in and with one's own body. Described to me once as like one's body is a puppet, but also wrong and not one's own.

Other than transition, there are no known treatments that alleviate the anxiety, depression, and fear experienced by trans people.
Telling them they are unwelcome everywhere and their doctors are selfish offers them nothing.

Because clearly you've never spoken to an actual transgender person or a doctor who works with them.

It's rather like insisting that people with migraines should just take aspirin and soldier on, because *your* headaches aren't that bad.
