Most local sports radio guys in stations w.o pro basketball are pretty clueless in general.
Tough for a guy in KC who’s never had a team close.
More egregious where I live in Baltimore for the main sports station to basically never cover basketball outside of the Terps.

Even the worst dirtiest ref is better than the best cop because their institution isn’t evil.

Key difference is that professional basketball needs refs but society doesn’t need police.
