What hymn is set to God Preserve the Tsar?

In the Creed we profess belief in a God who created all things, seen and unseen. I think there are absolutely unseen realities that are part of God's creation and scripture and tradition point to the fact that angels as real spiritual entities are part of that creation.

See you there!

I'm finding it and the readings from revelation to be timely reminders and examples of our call to faithfulness no matter what comes.

He's so great. I really came to appreciate him during my time in the Orthodox Church. I'm so glad he's on our calendar.

As an aside... for those who prefer contemporary language, the Great Litany from EOW really isn't bad and you should check it out ⚓

The collect is from the Visitation (May 31st) but although this feast dates from the 6th century it wasn't added to TECs calendar until the 2018 revision of Lesser Feasts and Fasts and since it's a Lesser Feast it (sadly) doesn't get office readings.

I really wish they hadn't messed with the NRSV. The UE just doesn't have the same readability.

If you could convince CP to do something that's actually helpful to the liturgical and devotional life of the church I might start a canonization process for you while you're still alive!

I carry a BCP/Bible combo with me for the office and it works but the 2 Volume office books were just so much more compact.

Maybe we could get Forward Movement to take up the project if we ask @scottagunn.bsky.social nicely enough.

So I would argue that We are obliged to accept the christological and trinitarian statements within the Creed even if we aren't obliged to accept every aspect of it (thinking particularly of the anathemas and the implication that those who don't hold to the faith are damned)

As mentioned TEC clergy are not obliged to accept the creed as a whole since our definition of doctrine only mentions Apostles and Nicene creeds by name. However the catechism does mention the athanasian creed as proclaiming the nature of the incarnation and of God as Trinity.
