Spent some time last week searching for these super well camouflaged little buggers on the beach in Fire Island Beach National Wildlife Refuge. Also learned. Also learned a valuable lesson about ticks.

Often overlooked in favor of her male counterpart, the female Red-Wing Blackbird can be beautiful in her own right. Not a rare bird by any stretch it's about the moment you capture.
