Interested in persistence mechanisms of parasites and bacteria, previously in the Treeck lab @Crick and IGC, now in the Rohn lab @UCL
Can’t get over the fantastic view from the labs at the Pears building, UCL Infection&Immunity! visiting @gpollara.bsky.social lab right next to the Heath 😍

A dream coming true: sharing my passion for parasites and CRISPR technology with students @uclmedsci.bsky.social ! Thank you @gpollara.bsky.social for inviting me (and for the shots!) and I want to thank the students for the curious, smart and engaging discussion!

This week I had the pleasure to tutor undergrad students in the wonderful wet lab of Cruciform building @ucl.ac.uk in what it was the former children ward of the hospital: beautiful mosaics of tales at the walls overlooking the main quad. My favourite was little red riding hood!

In my quest for an everything-proof marker I found this brilliant Reddit thread where somebody systematically tested several ones with 70%EtOH, water bath and for smudginess 😍 not all heroes wear capes! #lablife www.reddit.com/r/labrats/co...

Our star @victoriachu.bsky.social giving a fantastic #pint25 talk with @nc3rs.bsky.social 🌟 with those numbers that always give me a headache (400 millions infections a year!) and the magic of human urine 🌟

I was so lucky to have the support of two incredible research institutes, the @crick.ac.uk and the IGC, now part of @gimmfoundation.bsky.social . Ironically, the paper was submitted on 30/09/24, last day of official existence of IGC and my last day in Portugal. What a fantastic journey it was!

I want to study pathogen persistence so I’m testing my own in this cold London winter. Yesterday I run my first 10k, temperature perceived 1 C, fear visible in my eyes
