You know, when we’re all hyperventilating about Greenland, we’re not talking about ICE killing people, the economic uncertainty, Trumps connection with Epstein, and other subversions of democracy.

So…if China decides that the U.S. is engaging in espionage and sabotage and convicts the sitting president in their internal courts, then it’s OK for them to do a lightening special forces strike on Washington to kidnap the President and make him stand trial in Chinese courts? #venezuela #trump
January 3, 2026 at 8:03 PM
Wait…so, because the #Trump administration sent soldiers into a foreign country to kidnap their president, they felt like they were in danger and therefore it was OK to blow up the place? What kind of circular logic is that? This #Venezuela strike is INSANE.

I don’t think anyone will be ever be able disabuse me of the notion that going to war in Iraq was the biggest mistake of the 21st century. That decision, made on false pretenses, put the USA on the road to Trump, MAGA, and economic decline.

Remember when George Bush “looked into Putins eyes” and judge his character positively? I do.
Yeah it’s nice to see someone from The Bush Institute speaking up for Ukraine.. might’ve been even better if it was almost 4 years ago.. but I guess we take this

It’s crazy that #Trump keeps admitting that the aggression and violence against Venezuelans is explicitly about #oil and making sure that US oil companies can make lots of #money.

Donald Trump is known for firing people. But not this year. - The Washington Post

This is a false headline. Trump rarely fired people in his first term…they quit because they hated working for him. That happened over and over again. He only fired people on the Apprentice TV show. #sad

My biggest regret as an educator is not pushing for more full books to be read in my classes.
You'll see this article posted a lot today. That's only because everyone should read it. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/12/u...

That’s it. I’ve got to switch internet providers…this paradigm of increasing charges $2-$5 every 4 months has got to stop. They give you a small benefit to autopay and to paperless, and then increase the costs hoping you don’t notice or act. It’s disrespectful.

Trump’s escalating Venezuela rhetoric, military moves alarm region’s leaders - The Washington Post

Classic. A failing leader instigates a “quick and easy” military conflict against a foreign country to distract from domestic issues. That’s never gone poorly...wait… *checks any history book* oops

Be aware: situations like this are when toddering authoritarians try to create a rally around the flag effect by starting foreign wars. So much for #americafirst

Still wondering why #epstein is situation room worthy? Seems pretty SUS to me. That in and of itself is damning.

I would just add, “we tell the truth and do hard things.” “We don’t think you are stupid, it rather a reasonable Partner in governing America.”
It doesn’t matter what I think. Also, none of this would ever happen. But if I had a zillion dollars:

1. Run a “we do hard things” campaign across southern and rust belt states. Invest heavily in local, state and regional social infrastructure. Sponser later hours at a library, build a skate park…
If I were to sum up my advice to the Democratic party leadership about how to defeat Trumpism, it would be to set aside policy for now and focus instead on articulating a vision of what American society should look like and what role the US should play in a rapidly changing world today.

Yes yes yes. 1000% yes. Give people in districts across the country a reason to vote democratic, and they will.

What to know about Trump and rising tensions with Venezuela - The Hill

What stupid pointless “war of choice” actions by the supposedly anti-war #maga folks. Especially with China clearly preparing for war over #taiwan, #WTF. Venezuela has not strategic threat to the USA

Thank you for your wisdom, @jamellebouie.net civil society, as weak as it feels, is the #1 way to make change in society. This was true in autocracies and democracies, and we need to leverage our power.
