A remake like this is a rare opportunity to understand how a director thinks so I'm glad your post got me to watch it. I was fascinating to see how Yorgos acknowledges the present but breezes by it. For instance conspiracy is not the point, trauma is. Anyways, fun film geek stuff.

Finally saw it. And, oh, man, I think he did it. It's the same film beat by beat. So not creatively original, but he really understood the original. You can transpose the films and that is both fascinating and so Yorgos as his politics are Foucaultian--about mechanics and not specifics.

I feel that everyone regurgitating the white-washed version of the civil rights movement simply cannot acknowledge that they don't know much about it *because* the family members linking to it kept far away from it and even opposed a lot of it.
