I try to set deadlines for the 1st 2 weeks of December, in the hopes of being able to have the rest of December free to wind down before the festivities and close up any pending bookkeeping and admin tasks. I also try to postpone any big projects to the new year, where possible :)

Yep, and that usually starts a failed search for something that's not only similar but as identical as possible because I have trouble letting go 😆

Never feel bad for having slow days or periods in your freelance career. Slow days may be a sign to take an overdue day off to recharge(which you shouldn't feel bad about). In other words, take advantage of the flexibility a freelance lifestyle offers especially to prioritise your wellbeing.
