Learning to love LA's sandwiches is a lot like learning to love LA. A good sandwich supports it own weight, moves well, maintains structure through a bite and doesn't get soggy. On Lunch Box I wrote a guide to 10 sandwiches I've been eating for a while. open.substack.com/pub/frankbea...

Thanks to @aajaofficial.bsky.social for giving me and Lucy Liu a chance to talk about our film "Rosemead," which adapts a 2017 story I wrote for the LA Times. We talked about how stories are supposed to discomfort us, how the best ones are dangerous, but necessary, like hard rain after a drought.
I wrote a story that was made into a film starring Lucy Liu and now it’s screening at the @aajaofficial.bsky.social convention I’ve attended nearly every year since joining Voices since 2011. Thanks to everyone at this organization for all the love/support of my work over the years ❤️
