This is absolutely true. We are a high tech industry with archaic corporate practices #AVintheAM

Diversifying the AV scope to include more UC and UX technologies is the best way to future proof. Traditional AV with it's 5-7 year refresh cycle is the most affected when disruptions occur. If a system is functional there is really no incentive to upgrade when budgets are shrinking #AVintheAM

AV is an integral part of every org out there. Every vertical has it own nuances. I don't think it's manufacturers that need to adapt, it's the integrators whether in house or external that need to change their processes. #AVintheAM

There's a monumental shift in prioritizing smooth UX. This is clearly seen on the mnfr side. This means being seamless whether hybrid, remote or in office. The challenge falls on designers-integrators to ensure system complexities are behind the scenes keeping the ux is simple #AVintheAM

I think the advantages of UC vs travel is well established in many business use cases. Sadly, when cost cutting is the goal, process improvement is rarely seen as the first line of defense. Leadership and their vision of how success is measured is at times the only thing that matters. #AVintheAM

Oh goodness! I've actually never looked into it but is there not a scheduler tool BlueSky?

I get it... We are on the delayed feed 😊

There's always a lot of press around those edge cases. In reality our typical AV needs are quite simple. So how do we balance those spaces, its by understanding those niche use cases and building them. We are actually really good at that - its easy stuff that trip us up. #AVintheAM #AVTweeps

Scope creep is the easily how you can turn a project that was designed with decent margins to a massive loss. I know its easy to say that we need a proper SoW and companies have gotten better at it but it doesnt help that AV does operate with a broad group of stakeholders. #AVintheAM #AVTweeps

I dont think we are close or even need "touchless" control. Mimicing our phones and UX to a larger scale is probably all thats needed. Most UC platforms today are designed with that in mind. Its about embracing that in the standard AV design process. #AVintheAM #AVTweeps

I wrote up an entire paragraph before deciding maybe I should be a little more tactful lol. The reality is AV marketing needs to move into the new world. User bases have changed, consumer demographics are different - Leadership needs to see the vision and empower marketing #AVintheAM #AVTweeps

Back in my day we used to call this "Project Management" and "Quick trip to HomeDepot" In all seriousness, Im glad we are starting to include contingency planning in our processes. There's a bigger takeaway imo - our projects are becoming less custom and more standardized #AVintheAM

Mostly Audio related skills. I dont know if its a more of a "lost art" or just a case of technology being built so superior that some of the old tuning / commissioning skills arent really needed. #AVintheAM

So interestingly all the standards mentioned are transport/control mechanisms. With AES67/Dante, there is actually no compression. Video on the other hand needs compression (cuz bandwidth) Lol if you think our standards are a mess, wait till you hear about the war of the compression folks #AVintheAM
