As inconvenient as it may be, there's no escaping reality. I walk, I cycle, I drive.

A Socratic Thinker, of the most annoying kind. More questions than answer, that's what you'll find.

I was out on the bike yesterday, ticking of a few more Grade I LBs, around Polegate.

The take home from that, doesn't it get dark quick on roads without any street lights these days?

It certainly made that East Dean road climb feel dodgy, with its impatient drivers.

It looks a revisit is needed...

It may seem pointless, with so many leaves still to fall, but clearing them is quite therapeutic... It also provides you with a good workout, if you want to give it a go.

Hopefully, lessons will have been learned from this experience...

A warning for those who use the @a38cycleway.bsky.social in Birmingham... Please ride and cycle to the conditions.

There's a lot of wet and mashed up leaves along this route, so it's important to keep your speed under control...

Don't go be like this pair of fools... #Cycling

Another #DogWalkingThought...

Given the billions of acorns that fall, why don't I see more oak seedlings?

I've an oak tree in my garden and I frequently have to pull up seedlings, but I never see any, anywhere else...

Do I go for the one bottle, or three?

No 12.

Church of St George, Saham Toney

By walking around the outside of any church, you really see its full character, as displayed here...

And that's it, for this leg of my #ListedBuildingsTour... Where every site visited is a Grade I Listed Building...

No 11.

Church of All Saints, Threxton.

It's another round tower (not so rare for this area). And it's one that can be from a bit of a distance too.

No 10.

Church of St Andrew, Little Cressingham.

Now, this is an intriguing site... Such a mix match... I'm going to have look in to it further when I get home.

Church of St Michael, Great Cressingham (not ton).

Of all the churches I've visited, there's not one, I can recall, being able see straight through, from one end to the other, like this...

That did stop me in my tracks.

The Manor House, Great Cressington

The first non church building and it's strictly private...

It can't even be seen from cycling further up the lane either.

Church of St Nicholas, Ashill

As well as the brick work, in filled doors and windows show how churches change over time.

Church of All Saints, Sth Pickenham.

A round tower church... Which is a rarity

No 5.

Church of St Mary, Houghton (It says on Google Maps)

This another of those well hidden churches.

And it's pretty tiny too.

Church of St Andrews, Holme Hale (this time).

Spotting the different stages of a church's life is a lot easier, with some, than others.

Church of St Andrews, Bradenham (also).

Spotting these churches from a distance is not as easy as you might think... Another sign of age.

Church of St Mary, Bradenham.

I think it's going to be a Church Fest today...

It's a live #ListedBuildingsTour today...

First off:

Church of All Saints, Shipdham

Given how many listed buildings are churches, I've taken to examining headstones, as a sideline, to see what's the oldest one I can find.

I'm sure I've seen 1700 out Ledbury way, but, until I get back out that way, this is the oldest one I've pictures of.

I use to run with a pretty tough gang when I was younger too...

No. This isn't bin strike related. It's just a sign of little, some people, think about the area.

I suspect, nobody's gonna go through this to try and find an address label, instead it'll be collected, by the Parish Council, no questions asked...

And people wonder why it keeps appearing...

Heaven & Hell. A History of The Afterlife.

Listening to this, I wonder, how much do those who follow, any religion, know of its history?

I think, people shy away from asking too many questions as they're ill-prepared for answers...

It's all, equity driven.

Unsurprisingly, this has gone already... Less than two days after being in the road...

I just wish someone could clear the footway in this area as swiftly as this.
May 26, 2025 at 11:27 AM
I wonder how long these cuttings will remain in the road...

I suspect, they'll be moved, far sooner, than had they been left obstructing the footpath, as they were...

(Something for me to check the next time I'm passing this way.)

He may be from Amsterdam and he may know how to ride a bike, but I bet he doesn't drive like this in his hometown... Not only does he cut me up, he also turns right from a lane marked left of straight only... Hopefully, WMP will get back to me on this one (having failed with previous submissions).
