Unfortunately 1 out of 3 CDC staff have been fired already and many leadership folks have left, many important research programs have been defunded by the idiot college students working for Elon and mr trump. We are in such deep water. [end of thread]

It is going to be a bad FLU year and it is already a bad avian Influenza year. Reassortment is the short cut it will take when a dairy worker with seasonal flu goes to work and milks a cow with AVIAN FLU. I am moving to an island without ferry service if that happens.[thread]

Instead of accumulating single point mutations, avian virus could also swap entire gene segments with a circulating human flu virus if a person is co-infected with both simultaneously. This could instantly create a hybrid virus (virulence of avian, transmissibility of seasonal flu) =pandemic threat.

It is time to start thinking about wearing masks when in enclosed public spaces. It is time to stay home if you are sick. Time to test and take care of your family especially the very young and older folks. [graphic from SCIENCE]

So buckle up folks! Get the vaccine ( 20% of the time it does help with H3N2 and almost all the time with H1N1 and type B FLU). [thread]

On the human side: FLU case are increasing and although there is an excellent fit between the vaccine and the H1N1 type A and the type B FLU this year. The H3N2 FLU type A that is spreading in the US is not a good fit with this years vaccine. The dominant strain so far this year is H3N2. [thread]

So JR and friends went against settled science and all the date to change recommendations that will lead to increasing preventable child deaths today, Friday. I think the CDC as an organization lost all credibility today. Entirely do to the actions of two men JR and Trump. Please organize and vote.

Hepatitis B shots
Why the universal birth dose exists:
Babies are especially vulnerable—9 in 10 infants who catch it become chronically infected 12–18% of U.S. pregnant women are never tested for hepatitis B. Only 35% of women who test positive get recommended follow-up care.
