I’m a middle school teacher. I have sacrificed most of my social life and energy to provide my students with everything they need and to create a safe space for all of them. I am president of the school board and I’m taking on some administrative responsibilities. I have 300 dollars to my name.

Do not believe those corrupt Puerto Rican politicians on tv - most Puerto Rican do not want statehood. Those politicians just have the most funding and the biggest platform.

I lived half a block from the “rat hole” for a few years. It’s definitely a squirrel hole and yes I’m a tiny bit bitter that I had posted the photo online years ago and never went viral.

Puerto Rico is changing rapidly due to climate change. More severe weather (like the tornado in Aguada a few days ago), more extreme heat, more hurricanes, more flooding. Watching my family deal with the effects of climate change is heartbreaking and infuriating.

I try to visit my abuelo in Puerto Rico as much as possible because he’s in his late 90’s. I haven’t been able to visit for two years. Now I’m here and I got covid so I can’t get near him and I have to stay isolated in my room. I’m feeling really down right now.
