🌳The emissions from biomass power plants are inescapable. Drax generates more than the top 6 largest gas power plants, combined!

We've just published an updated analysis of the 2027-2031 subsidy package for Drax. This could be the beginning of the wind down, but focus must move to the post-2031 phase out now. For lots of charts, stats and commentary - check out the link in the thread:

New chart - The rising energy price cap is bad news, we've been following the steadily increasing price of gas for the 12 months. It's clear that wholesale energy prices need to be freed from the influence of volatile gas.

Biomass subsidies - Good news for bill payers, and bad news for Drax
The next subsidies announced for big biomass are *potentially* far more restrictive than previously enjoyed by Drax. This could signal the beginning of a wind down of expensive and polluting biomass power generation.

Ofgem has announced a 1.2% rise in the domestic price cap from January. Expensive fossil gas is making winter harder for millions.
