Here's what I don't get. Why is the right so doggedly sawing at the branches on which they're sitting when what's below is nothing but pointy rocks and raging flames?

Texas is relying on FEMA. State leaders said it should be cut
The governor and top emergency official in Texas are both members of a council advising the Trump administration on options for eliminating the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

I dont know how bad it will have get between now and then, or what exactly "then" will look like, but I trust Dr. King's vision about the universe's arc. When we get to "then," I suspect there'll be a museum about this moment in the US. Kind of like Auschwitz.

Know where B5 and Star Wars (the prequels) both fell short? It turns out you dont need The Force or The Shadows powering a complex plan to enslave a democracy. Just a pack of frustrated people who'd rather resent others than elevate themselves.

What Trump wants in Iran is to seize credit for the fruits of Israel's long struggle so he can pretend he's strong, and to sieze the oil under their ground.

This week's Sub-orbital Glamsters clearly don't deserve the term "astronaut." Neither do most of the Dragon and Virgin stunt passengers (including Shatner). So what do we call these folk?

Like a lot of people, I'm occasionally surprised at how fast oligarchical totalitarianism has shaped up here. I have to remind myself that there's been a trail thru Reagan's hacking taxes and regulation, thru Nixon's pissed off fans, thru McCarthyists back to Anti-New Dealers.

Non-fascists are delighting in Trump Acolyes getting roasted in town halls in Trump-turf. Is that the correct take? How many of these angry folk will punish Sitting Trump Bootlickers by voting for Next Trump Bootlicker in '27? How do we put the heat where it belongs soon enough to matter?

I can't help wondering if Trump-Musk are deliberately attempting to provoke actions that give 47 an excuse to enact martial law.

It also more than slightly bothers me that The Proud Boys have been so quiet since the pardons.

There's something we've got to face: Any US citizen older than 40 (naturalized 1st gens get a pass) was born in the greatest country on earth, and we failed to keep it that way. What are we going to do about it now beyond (legitimately) blaming rich jerks?

The number of things at work here is large:
- Wanting all discovery privatized to hoard IP.
- Rejecting the value of education because it doesn't directly benefit oligarchical goals.
- Education's corrosive effect on subservience and caste thinking.
- There's $ to steal.
