After experiencing both difficulties I definitely felt a normal difficulty would’ve had a great place in the game. The damage taken upon getting grabbed between hard and story is huge! And like you said, story essentially nullifies the sanity system which just doesn’t feel great.

Huge agree! My first playthrough I wasn’t sure to play hard or story because both sounded like the far angle of their respective difficulty. Hard ended up being frustrating, while my next playthru story felt too easy 🤷
